Continuing our Animal Kingdom spotlight this week today’s post is going to be about Animal Kingdom Table Service Restaurants. What is a table service meal you ask? These are meals where you are seated by a hostess and have a waiter at your table. These also can include buffets and character meals.

With table service meals it is often advised to book advanced dining reservations for these meals. These locations can book out up to 180 days in advanced. Now, that’s not to say that you couldn’t walk in with a little bit of a wait, but it’s highly suggested to reserve your table in advance.

Yak and Yeti – This location offers a variety of American, Asian, Chinese, and Seafood Cuisine. Yak and Yeti is a well-known choice when doing table service dining at Animal Kingdom. This location is compatible with the Disney Dining plan with table service credits.

Tusker House – Tusker House is a character dining experience. You can join Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie in their safari get up at this buffet style eatery. Tusker house is open for breakfast for traditional breakfast items, lunch, and dinner. Dinner offers an assorted selection with African flavor. This location is compatible with the Disney Dining plan with table service credits.

*Writer review: Tusker house is great for kids who love the core 4 characters. Keep in mind that this is the food of a traditional Disney Buffet. If you consider yourself a foodie I would look elsewhere unless you are dining for the Safari feel and character experience. I suggest breakfast over lunch and dinner.

Discovery Isle

Tiffins Restaurant – Tiffins is a Signature dining experience that offers African, Asian, and Latin cuisine. Flavorful dishes include the Tamarind-braised Short Rib, Butter Chicken, and the Crispy Sadza with Braised Pork Belly. Tiffins has a lot to offer and is compatible with the Disney Dining Plan. Due to being a signature experience it will cost you 2 table service credits.

Pizzafari Family Style – This location serves family style American-Italian food right to your table. You are seated and served with a spread of baked ziti, fettucine Alfredo, and pepperoni pizza. After the main course you are then served with miniature cannolis drizzled in chocolate for dessert!

Dinoland USA

Restaurantosaurus Burgers & Sundaes – This location is much like the quick service except it includes a build your own sundae bar! Pick your burger (a choice of 6), chicken sandwich, or veggie burger with a salad and a side. Then top it all off with a build your own sundae. This location is compatible with the Disney Dining plan with quick service credits.

Main Entrance

Rainforrest Café at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – This location is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast you can have a selection of Omelets, waffles, and their specialty Tonga Toast. For lunch and dinner you have a traditional American cuisine equipped with soups and salad, Seafood, Sandwiches and Burgers, and dishes including beef, pork, and chicken. The main dishes also include a select few pasta dishes. Rainforrest Café has a great selection of desserts as well.

*Writer’s review: Now this one is a chain restauraunt and you can find these in select cities over the United States so if you aren’t into chains, maybe pick a different place to go. However, I will say this one was one of our favorite meals from our last trip. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak and the Chicken Parm that I had was amazing! We ordered the volcano dessert and it was SO good. I know some people complain about this place but we loved it. Our waiter made our experience amazing and we enjoyed the atmosphere. These stops are normally full of kids due to the atmosphere of the animals so bare that in mind when you are considering these locations! We can’t wait to take our daughter here because she loves animals!

Tiffins Restaurant offers a three course gourmet meal. The Dining Package also offers a commemorative cast photo from the Festival of the Lion King.

Writer Tips

  • If you are wanting to do the Character Dining at Tusker House do it for breakfast early so you can take a little more time enjoying the atmosphere. Character meals tend to take longer.
  • You can enter Rainforrest Cafe from the main entrance without a park ticket if you don’t plan on going to Animal Kingdom or score a reservation on a different day.

  1. This is a great quick guide for dining at the park. It’s good to at least have an idea of where you want to eat because it can be a little overwhelming to decide when you’re already at the park. And great tip about character dining. It does take a little longer, but it is so worth it!
