Mardi Gras and the spring season is quickly approaching! It seems like just yesterday was Christmas Eve. If you were wondering if Walt Disney World gets into the holiday, they do! We are going to do a special short highlight of Mardi Gras at Walt Disney World this week and if you are there you can plan accordingly!
Mardi Gras is Tuesday February 25, 2020!
At the Parks
While you won’t see anything major going on at the Parks on Mardi Gras, except maybe increased crowds, some parks may offer specialty menu items for the days leading up to and on Mardi Gras. Last year Magic Kingdom featured a Frog Prince Whoopie Pie located in Liberty Square.
At Disney Springs this year, for the month of February, Maria and Enzo’s is hosting Carnevale which is the Mardi Gras outside of Italy. The nightly entertainment includes singers, stilt walkers, jugglers, mimes, face painters, folk dancers, all while indulging in Maria and Enzo’s signature Italian food.
Port Orleans Resorts
The best place to be in Walt Disney World for Mardi Gras is none other than the Port Orleans resorts. What better place than to feel like you are actually in New Orleans while in Disney. In years past the Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter resorts have had great activities that last all day long and even a few surprises. They host the Pargo Parade which runs from Riverside to French Quarter during the day, a Magical Mardi Gras Celebration in the evening at French Quarter Lobby Courtyard, and a Movie under the stars featuring The Princess and the Frog. In years past Tiana has also sometimes made a special appearance for meet and greets in the lobby at French Quarter! How Magical!
King Cake Shake
You can find the King Cake Shake in Disney Springs at Vivoli II Gelato featuring King Cake gelato in a waffle cone topped with a cinnamon roll and whipped cream.
Mardi Gras Beignet
The Mardi Gras Beignet is offered at Port Orleans French Quarter. This treat is the traditional Mickey Shaped Beignet with the signature Mardi Gras colored icing to top.
Mardi Gras Desserts
At Port Orleans French Quarter you can also find other Mardi Gras themed desserts year round. The popular king cake as well as the king cake themed cupcake are typically always on the menu.
